Sundargarh Engineering College, Sundargarh started in the year 2007 is one of the premier Technical Institution in the Western Odisha. It offers 4 years B.Tech courses (03 years for Lateral entry) in different Engineering branches with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, recognized by Government of Odisha and affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) Rourkela.
The Institute has been situated at KIREI just at a motorable distance from the District headquarter Sundargarh and is most easily approachable by the State Highway-10 connecting Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Sundargar & Rourkela. It is surrounded by the extensions of OUAT Research Centre, Kendriya Vidyalaya & Model School. It’s superb serene beneath the Western mountains of Odisha, by the side of IB river, in a cool and clean climate and pollution free environment that induce the mind of the Students to study deeply. The scenic beauty of this area is enhanced with the surroundings of unmatched tranquility.

The Institute provide 04 Years Engineering Degree ( 03 Years for Lateral Entry) as per the Syllabus prescribed by the State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training, Government of Odisha in the listed Branches of Engineering.
The Institute has well equipped, specious Laboratories and Workshops are designed and setup as per AICTE norms and standards with an aim to provide scope to critically examine the Theoretical aspects and to develop required skill. The Laboratories and Workshops of each Department are well equipped with modern and sophisticated gadgets as per Syllabus.
Computer Laboratories are equipped with latest configuration PCs and advanced software’s that help students to sharpen their skills in programming (C, C++, JAVA, UNIX, VISUAL BASIC, ORACLE, DOTNET etc), Office Automation System, Photoshop, FoxPro, Web Development, etc. Laboratories are well-equipped with AC and with a sitting capacity of 30 students for each lab. Also Laboratories are enriched with 100Mbps Leased Line Internet connectivity. We provide the facility to the faculties and the students to get connected to the internet and refresh their knowledge from time to time.
Admissions to all the Branches are carried out by the ODISHA JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (OJEE) CELL, through ON-LINE process. For admission in to 1st year B.Tech Course a candidate must have passed 10+2 Examination of CHSE or its equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and one from Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Biology/ Biotechnology or passed in 03 years Engineering Diploma (including those having less than 60% marks in aggregate) form SCTE&VT Odisha or equivalent. For admission in to 2nd year B.Tech (LATERAL ENTRY) a candidate must have passed in 03 years Engineering Diploma with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate form SCTE&VT Odisha or passed B.Sc. or its equivalent examination with Physics, Mathematics and one from Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Biology/ Biotechnology. Admission is strictly on merit list drawn from the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE MAN) or OJEE and as per the norms and guidelines issued by the DTE&T Odisha.
